<p><strong>Managerial Task:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures&nbsp;</li>
<li>Helps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes&nbsp;</li>

<li>Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times&nbsp;</li>

<li>Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief&nbsp;</li>

<p><strong>Technical Task:&nbsp;</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty.&nbsp; &nbsp;The Consultant Physician’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:&nbsp;</li>
<li>Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provide&nbsp;</li>
<li>Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices&nbsp;</li>
<li>Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources&nbsp;</li>
<li>Leads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice&nbsp;</li>
<li>Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures&nbsp;</li>
<li>Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required&nbsp;</li>
<li>Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required</li>
<li>Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent&nbsp;</li>
<li>Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals</li>
</ul>
