We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our infrastructure team based at Southampton Port. In this role you will ensure availability of uninterrupted power to Southampton Port and ensure appropriate power solutions are planned and constructed to meet the current and future demands. About the role<ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">To ensure electrical infrastructure of the port are planned and installed to times, capacity and standards necessary for the operation and expansion of container port.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Prepare and implement strategy to maintain the electrical infrastructure of port</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Management and supervision of consultants, contractors and engineers required to construct, maintain and switch electrical infrastructure of port.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Assume the responsibility of Senior Authorised Person for Southampton . This position entails providing support during out of office hours in case of emergencies outages and scheduled maintenance shut downs.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Ensure contracts are in place to call third party support in order to recover network from unexpected shutdown.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Ensure proficient working of SCADA and BMS in order to monitor electricity consumption of buildings, terminal lighting and equipment.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Implementation of a metering strategy in order to record network losses and consumption of tenants and internal cost centres.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Ensure 100% availability and reliability of Electrical supply to the port</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Develop skills and knowledge to manage or complete day to day switching and resolve electrical issues at the port.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">To ensure electrical work shall only be undertaken by personnel that are authorised and competent to carry out their duties.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">To undertake training of personnel and assessment of competency</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Plan timely maintenance of Electrical infrastructure while considering the operational and statuary requirements.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Ensure that DPWS’s Electrical Safe Systems of Works is updated to latest standards and regulatory requirements.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Ensure compliance to Safe Systems of Works and that all documentation is kept in order.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Maintenance of electrical equipment, systems, any associated drawings and the keeping of records.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Ensure that all new electrical equipment and systems are designed, constructed, and installed to be fit for purpose and can be used, operated, and maintained without danger.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Manage a variety of electrical infrastructure construction or maintenance contracts to time, budget and the quality expected</li></ul> Your Key Skills:<ul style="list-style-type:square;"><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience considered)</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Demonstratable experience of LV and HV network (>11kV) switching.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Demonstratable experience with HV cable jointing and terminating</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">In depth knowledge and experience of maintaining and/or managing HV networks. </li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations is BS 7671:2018 A2:2022</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Demonstrable experience of proactive problem solving and innovation, driving operational efficiency and excellence.</li><li style="line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0cm;margin-top:0cm;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Good understanding and experience of businesses requiring 24/7 support.</li></ul>  CompensationDP World offers exciting and challenging roles within a growing international organization.
