<p><strong>ABOUT THE ROLE</strong></p>
<p>Based at the Corporate Office in Dubai, the Fleet Technical Superintendent is responsible for supporting and managing, in the most cost-effective and efficient way, the repairs, maintenance, and general upkeep of the&nbsp;P&amp;O Maritime Logistics Fleet.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p><strong>Technical</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Main fleet-wide responsibilities would include but not be limited to:</li>
<li>Controlling and managing: Dockings, Special surveys, Upgrades, Modifications, Breakdowns, Major Accidents / Incidents, and Projects.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Supporting Technical Procurement, Insurance matters, and P&amp;I claims.</li>
<li>Providing overall technical support for any of the above activities and ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.</li>
<li>In conjunction with regional technical personnel, prepare timely, detailed, and accurate project/job / docking specifications.</li>
<li>Liaise with Central Procurement with respect of sourcing cost-effective spare parts and ensure that they are at the work site when required.</li>
<li>Travel to vessels or sites to support the above activities as and when required.</li>
<li>Manage the activities and involvement of support functions including yard personnel, OEM service engineers, sub‐contractors, and service providers.</li>
<li>Interact with regional offices to promote a good working relationship to ensure effective communication and support is provided.</li>
<li>Liaise with Country Managers and Regional Technical parties regarding any technical issue.</li>
<li>In conjunction with group legal and central procurement interact with Insurance Brokers and Underwriters in the follow-up and reporting of all Technical Claims.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Planning and Cost Control</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Have significant input into the preparation of project/docking/repair specifications including liaising with Central Procurement to identify and source suitable vendors, services, and equipment to support the activity.</li>
<li>In conjunction with Central procurement negotiate with equipment and material providers, suppliers, vendors, OEM’s, and other service providers to optimize purchasing costs and ensure technical compatibility.</li>
<li>Oversee and have input into the preparation of tender documents including establishing costs/budgets/programs and being part of subsequent bid / tender evaluations.</li>
<li>Ensure regular feedback on docking/project costs and schedules, reporting deviations and effectively monitor and control at all times.</li>
<li>Contribute to the appraisal and selection of repair yards and technical service providers.</li>
<li>Strictly control the technical costs of vessels in line with the agreed budget/requirements and report any deviations to management.</li>
<li>Support and monitor on-board Planned Preventive Maintenance to ensure cost-effective management and effective implementation of this function.</li>
<li>In conjunction with the Senior Fleet Technical Superintendent (SFTS) assist in the preparation of individual vessel and fleet annual docking/survey/project / upgrade budgets, including the preparation of an annual fleet docking/survey plan, (For approval by the Head of Technical).</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Reporting</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide written daily project / Docking status reports to the SFTS, detailing activities, and yard/contractor performance and recording any events that may be needed to support cost reductions and claims at a later date.</li>
<li>Ensure all relevant information regarding a vessel repair/docking is updated in the NS5 system.</li>
<li>Prepare reports as directed by STFS or the Head of Technical</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Planned Maintenance System (NS5)</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Co‐operate with the Planned Maintenance System (NS5) team to support implementation and ensure effective use of the management system.</li>
<li>Participate in periodic review and evaluation of the NS5 system to determine that it is being effectively utilized, determine where there are deficiencies, and where improvements can be introduced.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Other Functions</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Understand internal and customer organization, assets, investment strategy, fleet operations, and priorities</li>
<li>Maintain high technical knowledge and ensure personal development through training and self‐development</li>
<li>Participate in annual reviews and evaluate projects to determine success and how improvements can be made in the future report and present findings.</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-left:0in;"><strong>QUALIFICATIION &amp; EXPERIENCE&nbsp;</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Marine Engineering Class 1 Motor (Class 2 may be considered based upon experience); or</li>
<li>Engineering/Naval Architecture degree; or</li>
<li>Master of Engineering Sciences, Mechanics, or Electromechanical Engineering; or</li>
<li>Master of Industrial Sciences, option Electromechanical Engineering</li>
<li>Sea experience as chief engineer on offshore support vessels and having held a supervisory shore-based position for min. 5 years; or</li>
<li>10 years of shore experience as Technical/Dry Docking Superintendent</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-left:0in;"><strong>KEY&nbsp;ATTRIBUTES:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Technical expertise in design, development, and systems integration</li>
<li>Technical drawing reading/design capabilities (CAD).</li>
<li>Experience and knowledge of major Class Societies requirements (ABS, DNV‐GL, BV).</li>
<li>In-depth Planned Maintenance System knowledge (AMOS, NS5).</li>
